Magnesium alloy is an alloy composed of magnesium and other elements. Its characteristics are: low density, high specific strength, high modulus of elasticity, good shock absorption, greater capacity to withstand impact loads than aluminum alloy, good corrosion resistance. The main alloying elements are aluminum, zinc, manganese, cerium, thorium and a small amount of zirconium or cadmium. At present, the widely used is magnesium-aluminum alloy, followed by magnesium-manganese alloy and magnesium-zinc-zirconium alloy.

There are many types of magnesium alloys, each with distinct properties. Some well-known types include AZ series (aluminum-zinc alloys), such as: Magnesium Alloy Ingot AZ91, Magnesium Alloy Ingot AZ63; AM series (aluminum-manganese alloys), such as: Magnesium Alloy Ingot AM50, Magnesium Alloy Ingot AM60 and ZE series (zinc-aluminum alloys).

Magnesium ingot AZ91Usage

1. The high temperature at which magnesium burns makes it a useful tool for starting emergency fires during outdoor recreation. Other related uses include flashlight photography, flares, pyrotechnics and fireworks sparklers.
2.To photoengrave plates in the printing industry.
3. In the form of turnings or ribbons, to prepare Grignard reagents, which are useful in organic synthesis.
4. As an additive agent in conventional propellants and the production of nodular graphite in cast iron.
5. As a reducing agent for the production of uranium and other metals from their salts.
